If there was a common theme within my picture books, it seems to sway towards the ‘flunkee’, the underdog, the unexpected winner. Likeable characters with a yearning to learn from experience and take the flak. I entertain myself with humour as I invent scenarios, plots and characters. There is a twofold factor in picture books; they are primarily read to children by adults; therefore, there are two ways of ‘seeing.’ So, if I create a picture book that is enjoyed by the child as well as the readre, then I am very happy.
